MUP In Brief
Medical Union Pharmaceuticals company (MUP)
is a modern Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
which incorporates many contemporary construction
design features, raw materials handling, production
flow concepts, air and water processing units
and state of art manufacturing equipments which
rival the most modern American, European and Japanese
counterparts.
MUP from the first day of production adopted
the Total Quality Management (TOM) concept
and methology in all departments and up-to-date
Quality Assurance (QA) techniques, not
only in all production processes, but also in
all administrative and supporting departments.
A status which culminated in acquiring the ISO
9001 Certificate from the British Standards
Institute (BSI) in 1996.
MUP strives to meet the needs of its partners
in the health care triangle, namely, physicians,
pharmacists and patients, through three critical
dimensions:
QUALITY, RELIABILITY &
CREDIBILITY
MUP has welcomed, along the last decade,
teams of inspectors from the American FDA,
as well as from the international pharmaceutical
manufactures: Schering-Plough (USA), Smith Kline-Beecham
(UK), Mepha (Switzerland) and American Cyanamid
(USA), whose audit documents testify to the high
standards of performance of MUP production
processes and QA techniques.
Because the dimension of quality involves
measurable attributes, both the MUP-Plant
and MUP-Products ranked high by these international
teams, on individual aspects of performance and
efficiency, compared to many other pharmaceutical
manufactures in the region.
Consequently, these international manufacturers
have placed so much confidence and trust in MUP
so as to rely on the company to produce their
top ranking brand names under license.
This, in turn, reflects the complete confidence
these companies have had in the Quality, Reliability
and Credibility of MUP.
In the span often years MUP offered a
wide range of product lines both as its own Specialties
and as Licensed Products (in addition to
products for Tender and Export) Covering
over 30 therapeutic groups.
These include antibiotics, antirheumatics, gastroentrology
products, dermatological, multivitamins and tonics,
and, the exclusive Baby-Care Line which addresses
the vital and long neglected infant age group
of patients for whom very few or no adequate products
were available on the Egyptian market before the
pioneering effort of MUP.
This well-balanced product portfolio of MUP
provides the physicians, whether General Practitioners
or Specialists in all branches, with wide selection
of medicines endowed with top quality, high efficacy
and absolute safety.
MUP Company employs a select and elite
group of experts with high qualifications in the
various disciplines of research, development,
planning, production and quality control. Many
of the employees have higher degrees beyond the
bachelor reaching the master's and Ph.D. degrees.
Furthermore in top management and leaders posts,
many members have full professorships from Egyptian
as well as American Universities. Embers of this
strong team have had long experience and intense
practice in the field of manufacturing of pharmaceuticals.
As to the junior staff members only the choicest
applicants and best elements are selected to fill
the posts of pharmacists, chemists, engineers
as well as skilled workers. This practice ensures
the maximum efficiency and reliability.
MUP has a high-level scientific committee,
which includes as its members the top and leading
professors in various clinical domains as well
as other medical discipline. This committee has
an important role in directing the R & D efforts
to new horizons in medical treatment.
MUP has the highest rate of growth in
sales along the last ten years. The sales in 1990
were 4.5 million and raised up to 220
million in 1999.
The equity, as well, has been raised from 22
million in year 1990 up to 313 million
in 1999. The number of products developed
through.
MUP laboratories were 19 in 1991
and raised up to 158 in 1999.
