Indications:
As an adjuvant therapy to remove viscid mucus in a wide range of conditions, such as:
Acute respiratory diseases: bronchitis, pneumonia, tracheobronchitis and acute asthma.
Chronic respiratory disorders: bronchitis, emphysema, T.B., pneumoconiosis, COPD.
Post-operative and post-traumatic pulmonary complications.
Otitis Media (AOM, OME) and Glue-ear.
Precautions:
Pregnant Women:
  There are no reports of teratogenic effects, however, carbocisteine is not recommended in the first trimester.
 
Breast Milk:
  There is no information on the use of carbocisteine during lactation.
 
The Elderly:
  Many reported trials have included elderly patients and no special problems have arisen.
Adverse Reactions:
  There are very rare reported reactions skin rashes, nausea, headaches, myalgia, dizziness.
Acute Over-Dosage:
  Gastrointestinal disturbance is the only likely symptom and no active treatment is necessary.
Contraindications:
  There are no contraindications.
Interference with Clinical Tests:
  None has been reported.
Dosage:
Adults:
The Adult Syrup or Capsule is used
Usual Dose: 1 Capsule 3 - 4 times daily, or 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) of the Adult Syrup 3 times daily.
Severe Cases: 2 Capsules, or 1 tablespoonful (15ml) of the Adult Syrup, 3 times daily. (till adequate response is obtained).
 
Children
The Pediatric Syrup is used
1 - 5 years of age: ½ - 1 teaspoonful (2.5 ml – 5 ml), 3 times daily.
6 - 12 years of age: 2 teaspoonfuls (10ml), 3 times daily.

How Supplied:
Capsules:
Boxes of 20 capsules.
Each capsule contains 375 mg Carbocisteine.
Adult Syrup:
Bottles of 120 ml.
Each 5 ml contains 250 mg Carbocisteine.
Pediatric Syrup
Bottles of 120 ml.
Each 5 ml contains 125 mg carbocisteine.
